About this site

16 Personalities Test is an independent, unofficial MBTI-style self-test built for casual learning and self-reflection. It presents 32 original scenarios, with eight questions assigned to each of four preference dimensions. The complete scoring rules and interpretive limits are documented below.

What the test measures

The quiz summarizes preferences across four familiar type dimensions: energy source, information style, decision style, and life rhythm. The result is designed to help visitors think about patterns in how they communicate, make decisions, and plan their time.

What the test does not do

This site does not provide psychological diagnosis, medical advice, employment screening, academic evaluation, or professional counseling. Your result should be treated as a lightweight description, not a fixed identity.

Independence

This site is not affiliated with MBTI, The Myers-Briggs Company, or 16Personalities. All descriptions and questions are original educational content created for this site.

Editorial approach

The Artifact4u Editorial Team writes and reviews the question wording, type guides, and dimension guides. We do not claim clinical credentials or present this material as psychological treatment. Our editorial goal is to describe both useful tendencies and predictable tradeoffs without ranking one type above another or assigning careers, abilities, or moral character from a four-letter result.

Each long-form type page covers attention, decisions, communication, work, relationships, growth, and common misconceptions. Pages include a review date and link to neighboring types so readers can compare close results instead of choosing a label from one flattering sentence.

Corrections and feedback

We review reports of unclear wording, broken links, scoring mismatches, and factual errors. Use the Contact page to send a correction. You never need to provide private quiz answers to report an editorial or technical problem.

Advertising independence

Advertising may help fund site operation, but advertisers do not choose quiz questions, scoring rules, type descriptions, article conclusions, or external sources. Advertising is kept visually separate from test controls and navigation. Read the full Editorial and Advertising Policy.

How the test works

The assessment presents 32 scenarios selected from a curated production bank. Eight questions contribute to each preference pair: E/I, S/N, T/F, and J/P. Equal question counts prevent one dimension from having more mathematical influence than another. Questions use ordinary situations involving energy recovery, information, decision criteria, and comfort with structure or flexibility.

The production bank was developed after reviewing material from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool. Concepts involving distress, symptoms, morality, ability, or unrelated traits were excluded, and suitable ideas were rewritten as original paired scenarios. This remains an unofficial educational test rather than an official MBTI instrument.

Answers and numeric scoring

Definitely A is worth −2, Mostly A −1, Mostly B +1, and Definitely B +2. The eight answers for each dimension are added, creating a raw range from −16 to +16. A negative total selects the left-side letter; a positive total selects the right-side letter. A total of zero uses the left letter as a deterministic technical convention.

Totals from −2 through +2 are displayed as a Balanced tendency. This communicates that the selected four-letter code may imply more certainty than the answers support. Near the midpoint, visitors should compare both preferences and neighboring types instead of treating the chosen letter as a firm classification.

Percentage and score bars

The score marker converts the −16…+16 raw range to 0…100 using ((raw score + 16) / 32) × 100. Thus −16 appears at zero, zero appears at 50, and +16 appears at 100. For a non-balanced result, leaning strength is the absolute raw score divided by 16. It is not a percentile, probability, confidence interval, or comparison with a population sample.

How the result is assembled

The winning letters are joined in E/I, S/N, T/F, and J/P order. The matching result summary and longer type guide are then displayed. Two people with the same code can have very different score positions, life histories, skills, roles, and cultural contexts, so the score bars should be read alongside the label.

Privacy and saved history

Individual answers are held in browser memory while the current test is calculated and are not sent to a site account or answer database. If optional history is accepted, the browser stores only the recent result type, name, four dimension scores, and completion time. Up to 20 records are retained locally and can be deleted or disabled by the visitor.

Interpretive limits

A short self-report quiz cannot eliminate mood effects, self-report bias, cultural interpretation, or differences between preference and role requirements. It does not assess intelligence, morality, mental illness, trauma, aptitude, or compatibility and must not be used for diagnosis, hiring, grading, applicant screening, or other high-stakes decisions.

The responsible use is provisional: inspect the score bars, compare neighboring types, and test any useful insight against recurring real-world behavior. Visitors needing psychological assessment or professional career guidance should use an appropriately qualified professional and tools validated for that purpose.
